Before I start, I just want to say, we should ALL be taking Covid-19 VERY seriously!! It's real, it's out there, and it's very dangerous!!

I have seen two ads regarding this situation. I have placed them in a separate post in this group. The first one was a message in the NL Adult site from someone saying that they saw an ad regarding someone having tested positive for Covid-19. The second one is another ad, also from NL Adult, supposedly from the gentleman who "developed covid symptoms".

Now, I'm not trying to be picky here, but there's a significant difference between developing symptoms of and testing positive for Covid-19. In one case, the person would have first noticed symptoms, gone to a health care facility, got tested, and gotten results of the test. In the other case, the person would only have noticed symptoms, but NOT done any of the other stuff, and as such, doesn't yet know if they have the virus or not. I certainly don't want to detract from the seriousness of this. We should all be practicing safe physical distancing, and if you are showing flu-like symptoms, you should be self-isolating for a period of not less than 14 days. This comes from the Chief Medical officers of the province, and of Canada as a whole. At the same time, though, I don't want to be sounding the alarm prematurely. Kudos to the individual who posted that they saw the other ad. They very clearly point out that it was something that they saw on NL Adult, and that they weren't 100% sure of the validity of the information. To be honest, I'm not 100% sure of it either.

For starters, the ad indicates that the person posting it is a "Woman seeking a man". For those who are unaware, when you post an ad on NL Adult, the form you have to fill in makes this one of about a dozen different categorical choices (ie, Man seeking a man, Man seeking a woman, Woman seeking a man, Transsexual seeking a Man, and many others). Whoever posted the ad consciously selected "Woman Seeking a Man". Perhaps they chose this one because it's the one that's most often read by men overall, so they hoped that they would reach the larger male audience. I would hope that this is the case, given the nature of the information. I would have to think, however, that if it's true, this is information that would, and should, be made available to ALL who visit the site, not just the Men who visit. I did a check, and found that the ad was only posted to the "Casual Encounters" section, and aimed ONLY at Men.

Secondly, the ad very generally mentions that the "infected" person visited a few in-town escorts, but never specifically mentions who he visited. Now, I get that he probably felt that it wouldn't be right to divulge the names publicly, but if I was Covid-19 positive, or thought that I was, and if I was going to post that fact on NL Adult, I'd probably also want to make sure that my readers had a way to determine who it was I should avoid for the next two or three weeks. I'd also want to make sure that the providers that I visited were able to see this as well, so they could take the appropriate action (get tested, self-isolate, etc).

I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time, and it probably won't be the last. And, I wouldn't want people taking my words as any kind of endorsement of the current state of things. That said, in my opinion, I believe the original ad to be fake, maybe posted by someone with the best of intentions, but I still think it is not true nonetheless. It just seems a bit too general for my liking. The fact that it wasn't aimed at specific providers (or doesn't even mention an area that they visited one way or the other) means that anyone reading it would have no idea who or where to avoid, and so they would have to avoid everyone just to be safe. To me, that seems to be the intent of the original ad. That doesn't mean we shouldn't all be careful!! Frankly, I'm not going to stand on a soapbox and tell people what they should and shouldn't do, or who they can and can't see during this period. However, I do feel that we should all be doing our part to help contain and eliminate this insidious virus. But, as for the ad, well, I'd probably take the advice with a grain of salt.

Stay safe, everyone!!

These are the two ads from NL Adult regarding the individual who reported having Covid-19 symptoms and had visited some Service Providers in the area.
